fiN

Hearing that this band were worthy of supporting Incubus, I felt they were definitely worth a listen. Feeling intrigued by sounding to me (from the teasing two songs they have on their Facebook) like a mixture of Muse, The Cribs, Local Natives and Incubus I couldn't miss the opportunity to see them and when I heard they were playing at UCA, I was the first there.

After having the pleasure to see them play, I was surprised at how unique sounding they really were and knew instantly that these guys were talented! I couldn't help my feet tapping along and wishing the lights were lowered and that I could get up and dance; as it was a seated event. They opened with an instrumental track that is actually their debut single; a brave decision by a new and upcoming band. Regardless, it worked; it was a taster of what was to come - an explosion of passion, energy and straight up raw talent. The set ended way too soon; I had to see them again.

True to my word, I did see them again at their launch night for 'The Artisan' at The Social in London and again these boys didn't fail to impress. Packed like sardines into the venue were an impressive number of fans who made me feel a little more at ease during the set - as I wasn't the only one dancing along. The music pulsed through the crowd until the very end when there were demands for an encore but you couldn't blame the band for retiring when they did because as you can tell from the photo's - they literally did give it their all.
I was hoping to talk to the boys after but at the same time, didn't want to deprive them of their many fans who were showering them with the praise they deserved. I'm hoping to see them again and add more to this review but until then, enjoy! Take a listen:

Little Introduction... The Recliners

Hello! I actually spent a long time thinking of a decent name for this blog; it was a nightmare! I had so many ideas but so many were taken, so I put on shuffle on Itunes and decided to come up with one that way. Funnily enough, the first song to play happened to be a song called 'Burning Down The Maze'.
'Burning down the maze' is actually the name of the debut album by a band called The Recliners, check them out if you haven't already! They are in fact comprised of my 3 brothers, occasionally their best friend, and a lifelong friend (I'm not being bias though - still take a listen).
The picture above is featured on the album cover and it is actually of my dad when he was younger, pretty cool photo though - wouldn't you agree? A bit annoying that I couldn't get it central... and I have tried everything!
Reminiscent of 90's rock and roll with Rory Gallagher style solo's held together by genius drumming and a crying voice similar to that of David Bowie; this band will not get boring.
This is the band that the 21st century needs to remind the world that real music isn't rare.   Anyway, check them out! Go on! Treat yourself...
